FESTIVALS
Poplar Festival 2011 and 2008
In celebration of the 60th Anniversary of The Festival of Britain and the community of Poplar, Joule was asked to produce, manage and programme a vibrant festival in Bartlett Park, funded by Poplar HARCA. Starting off this fantastic day out was a colourful community parade from Chrisp Street Market to the park led by The London School of Samba and Dhol Academy. Thousands of people came to listen to the jam-packed programme of free music including The Boxettes, Brassroots, Poetic Pilgrimage, Top Cats and Fat 45. The vintage area included Lady Luck Club DJ's spinning the tunes, dance workshops by The London School of Swing, Rock-a-Hula!, 50's museum and tombola, and glamorous fifties makeovers. The afternoon was packed out with other gems such as Musical Bingo, a community tent, arts and crafts, stalls, games, massage, a climbing wall, a football tournament and Mannings Traditional Funfair.
